Together we will decide how to design the ketubah: color, design, size, version, etc. Pricing varies according to what materials and options are chosen.

The ketubah is a traditional document but it is not a religious document. This is why it is halachically appropriate for women to write ketubahs. A kosher ketubah is a ketubah that has no mistakes; I guarantee the quality and the koshrut of the ketubah. After we finish the ketubah to your specifications, we will ask your rabbi/officiant to double-check that it is perfect.

It depends on your rabbi. Also, in cases where the rabbi does not agree, you can create your own “wedding agreement” that will express your love. You can read this immediately after the marriage ceremony.

I strongly recommend writing the ketubah on real leather parchment. The leather that I use is kosher and of the best quality —it is also used for the Sefer Torah and mezuzzot, which gives the ketubah a traditional look. The parchment’s bright color brings out the colors of the calligraphy and the designs. Writing on parchment guarantees a unique and original document that will stay with you and your family for many years. It is more durable than paper, ensuring the ketubah a long life as a living document and, eventually, a family hairloom for many generations.

In a Conservative, Reform, and civil ceremonies, couples edit the ketubah themselves. In these ceremonies, the ketubah outlines the principles that the couple will follow during their years together. This is a large and not particularly easy responsibility.
